The idea of development or progress has always been with us.We have aspirations or desires about what we would like to do and how we should live.Similarly,we have ideas abut what a country should be like.What are the essiantials things we require?can life be better for all?Can there be equiality for all?development involves thinking for allthese questionsand about the ways in which we can work towards achievuing the goals.This is a complex task.All the answers to the questions we will discuss today.We cant desire for change  without being aware of this.In the same way,it is nly thrugh a democratic political process that these hopes and possibilites can be achieved in real life.

What Development promises -Different People, Different Goals
let us tery to imagine what development or progress likely to mean.What are the aspirations
do all these persons have the same notion of development or progress? Mostly likely not.Each one of them seeks different things.They seeks things that are most important to them i.e. tjat which can fulfill their aspirations and demand.Infact two petrsons or groups may seek things which are conflicting.A girl expects freedom and opportunity as her brother,and  he also shares  in the household things.

Income And Other Goals

Besides  seeking more income one way or the other, eople also seek things like equal treatment,freedom,security,and respect f thers.All of these are important goals.INfact in some cases<these may be more important than more income or more consumption because material goods are not at all that you need to live.
money,or material things that one can buy with,it is one of the factor on which our life depends. if this is not obivous to you then you just think of a role of your friend in your life.You may desire of their friendship in your life.Simliarly there are many things that are not easily measuredbut they mean alot in ur lives.These are often ignored.However, it will be wrong to conclude thst what cannot be measured is not important
Consider a example,if u get a job in a far of place,before may factors,apart from income,such as facilites for your family,working opportunity to learn.Another job however may be high pay but no job security and also no time to spend with yur family.THis will reduce your freedom
